TIMING LAB

Nine focused ways to train your rhythm

Practice subdivisions, accents, independent rhythms and internal timing, then compare your results.

Timing Lab is a collection of short challenges built around different musical skills. Unlike a single tapping test, each game isolates a different timing demand. You can work through unlocked levels, play freely in Practice, or try the shared Today’s Mode challenge.

How Timing Lab works

  1. Choose a mode and difficulty. Start at the first unlocked level in each ladder.
  2. Listen to the count-in. Establish the pulse before the first scored note; when the guide disappears, maintain the beat yourself.
  3. Respond at the timing line. Use the correct tap, accent or left/right hand. Wrong-pad notes count as misses.
  4. Review your result. Compare stars, your score out of 10,000, average error and unlocked follow-up levels.

The nine games

Pulse Rush

Read on-beat, offbeat, triplet, rest and syncopated patterns under increasing pressure.

Time Bomb

Keep accurate timing while a fuse counts down. Accurate hits replenish time; misses shorten it. Hard mode removes the guide click.

Dark Pulse

Hold the tempo during stretches with no reference click and compare how far your timing drifted.

Rudiment Levels

Work through standard drum-stickings, from single strokes and rolls to paradiddles, with Easy, Normal and Hard levels.

Endless Rudiments

Chain sticking patterns for as long as you can, with speed and difficulty rising during a run.

Accent Orbit

Distinguish accented and normal notes in repeating and changing rhythmic patterns.

Polyrhythm

Play independent left and right pulses, such as 3:2 or 5:3. The speed is adjusted to the complexity of each ratio.

Shape Shifter

Adapt when the meter changes between signatures such as 4/4, 7/8 and 11/8, while identifying downbeats and accents.

Ghost Rivals

Race recorded or simulated timing runs at different paces and compare your accuracy against the opponent.

Campaign, Practice and Today’s Mode

Campaign levels unlock in order and save your best scores and stars. Practice lets you train freely without changing those records. Today’s Mode uses a shared level each UTC day: its separate Daily leaderboard does not unlock or overwrite your campaign progress.

The score starts at 0 and tops out at 10,000 for finite levels. A one-star clear starts at 6,500, two stars at 8,000 and three stars at 9,200. In a redesigned level, results from an older scoring version are kept separately rather than counted against a new attempt.

PRACTICE IDEA

Start where your timing is weakest

If you rush on subdivisions, try Pulse Rush. If you can follow a click but lose the pulse in silence, practise Dark Pulse. If you struggle to accent correctly or feel 7/8, try Accent Orbit or Shape Shifter at Easy speed first. Progress in small steps instead of jumping straight to Hard.

Try a Timing Lab run

Launch the modes inside the main TempoLock game. Scores and account settings remain accessible in the same interface.
